Thoba is a skilled and versatile digital artist with a strong foundation in digital arts. With a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts degree and an Honors in Digital Arts from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), Thoba has developed expertise across multiple creative disciplines, including video production, motion graphics and infographic animation.

Thoba’s professional journey began at UKZN, Corporate Relations Department (CRD), Video Production Unit, freelancing as a Video Editor and Camera Operator towards the end of his university studies. Here, he gained hands-on experience in video production.

In 2020, he joined Gamma Education Technologies as a Motion/Graphic Designer, where he contributed to the production of interactive illustrations and synchronized motion graphics for educational content covering the Grade 10 CAPS Mathematics syllabus. This role involved creating dynamic visual elements for mathematics lessons, merging live footage with digital graphics, and utilizing techniques like colour correction, chroma keying and compositing to enhance educational videos.

Thoba later returned to UKZN (CRD) as a Video Production Technician in 2022. He continued to grow his technical capabilities and was now responsible for setting up complex video production systems, live-editing using Atem software, and creating motion graphics for video intros, all while maintaining his dedication to quality and precision.

In 2024 he joined the UTLO team as a Digital Content Editor, also within UKZN. His current duties are a combination of his previous experience which include: Creating motion graphic illustrative content, video editing, sometimes setting up and shooting content which is focused on enhancing teaching and learning within UKZN.

Across all his roles, Thoba has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to continuous learning and creative exploration, blending technical skills with an artistic approach to problem-solving.
