Staff Bio
Nomzamo Nxumalo is the Special Projects Coordinator, supporting collaboration between the DVC: T&L and both internal and external stakeholders. With over a decade of experience in higher education, including student leadership, she brings multifocal strategic insight and operational expertise to the Teaching and Learning Division at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Her leadership experience extends beyond the university, with notable roles in community development organisations, where she has driven strategic planning, grant writing, and youth empowerment programmes. Her work focuses on coordinating high-impact initiatives, including academic support programmes, policy reviews, and high-level stakeholder engagement.Â
Nomzamo is currently pursuing a Master of Social Science degree in Policy and Development Studies, a path she chose to deepen her expertise and broaden her perspective on policy and its effects on communities. Her studies are not just an academic pursuit, but a way to enhance the impact of her work as Special Projects Coordinator at UKZN. By engaging with complex policy issues, she is equipping herself with the tools to drive meaningful change, strengthen institutional projects, and contribute to the University’s mission in more transformative ways. This blend of academic growth and professional dedication reflects her commitment to making a lasting difference in higher education.
